Latino Community Foundation of Colorado

¿Quienes Somos? - Our Collective Identity: Part 2 (english)

Latino Community Foundation of Colorado Season 1 Episode 3

The Latino community is not a monolith. It is as diverse, vibrant, and strong as our community’s collective identity. No matter how you identify—Latino, Hispanic, Chicano/a, Latinx – identity is fluid; it evolves throughout our lives and is personal and unique to each one of us. Episodes 3 and 4 center on identity. Quienes Somos takes you through an exploration of the origin of the terms Hispanic/Latino, and the role social factors and data played in defining our identity. Dr. G. Christina Mora, Associate Professor of Sociology, UC Berkeley, and author of Making Hispanics, shares her story and how identities shift based on geography, different life stages, and policies.

Join us and tune in with your friends and family so that together we can use Our Stories to elevate and address pertinent issues in the Latino community. New episodes will be released the first Wednesday of the month and feature community leaders from throughout the state of Colorado and beyond.
